Eliminate Homelessness for Oakland's Unsheltered

As a result of all your support, Roots Community Health Center's Oakland Homecoming House is now completely furnished and ready for move in! Since the launch of our campaign in November, we have raised $10,064, surpassing our original goal of $10,000.

Our staff have been working hard to put together a welcoming home for our new residents, building out programming and support services. We have hired a House Manager, and we are so excited to soon welcome seven residents into their new home and start them on the path to stable housing and employment.

Oakland Homecoming residents will acquire job skills, training, and experience at Roots' Clean360 social enterprise while engaging in community building and life skills workshops.

Future funds raised during the GlobalGiving campaign will help Roots provide our newly sheltered residents with:

• Food
• Bus tickets (to travel to and from work at Clean360)
• Medical Care, Behavioral Health Care, Case Management - all provided by Roots' health professionals, and
• Factory training stipends

Roots Community Health Center is humbled by the outpouring of support we received for our Oakland Homecoming project!

Roots launched the Homecoming campaign last November to transform the lives of community members who would otherwise go unrecognized - Oakland's homeless and unsheltered. With your help, we have raised $9,195.  These funds helped Roots to purchase supplies, and renovate our Oakland Homecoming House, which is on track to open in March 2018.

Centrally located in Oakland’s Fruitvale District, the Oakland Homecoming House offers generous living space with three bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and a shared meeting space for group sessions.  During the day, residents will acquire job skills, training and experience at Roots’ Clean360 social enterprise, also in Oakland.

With renovations almost complete, we are now seeking donations to help equip the Homecoming House with items that will make the house a home for our participants.

Future funds raised during the Global Giving Campaign will help Roots provide our newly sheltered residents with:

• Appliances
• Bedding
• Clothing
• Food
• Toiletries
• Bus tickets (to travel to and from work at Clean360)
• Medical Care, Behavioral Health Care, Case management – all provided by Roots’ health professionals, and
• Factory training stipends
