Veneranda started TWO businesses!

Veneranda is a 60 year-old grandmother who is raising three grandchildren between the ages of 3 and 10. She does her best to provide for her family but she’s never had enough money to grow her business. She just needed someone to believe in her. That someone was you!
You gave Veneranda the opportunity to grow her bricklaying business! With the loan she received, she was able to build and sell two large kilns of bricks. She was able to repay the loan in full and even started a second business with the remaining profits. Her second business is party decorating, which is something she has always wanted to do but never thought would be possible.
Thanks to you, Veneranda now runs her two businesses of bricklaying and party decorating. She is also able to better care for her three grandchildren. Thank you for changing the lives of grandmothers like Veneranda!

Your Grandmothers Can Grow Mushrooms!

Thank you for supporting your grandmothers in Uganda!
You have given 7,301 women opportunities and resources that they otherwise wouldn’t have. So far this year, over 100 grandmother homes have been visited by the Nyaka Grandmother Team to check on the well-being of your grandmothers. The team ensures safe living conditions in the home, makes sure the grandmothers have a healthy kitchen vegetable garden, sees that all of the grandchildren in the home are going to school, and offers advice and other support as needed.
Grandmother Groups have also recently gathered to learn more about income generating projects, food security, the importance of education, and health and sanitation improvement. Two of the groups even had the opportunity for exchange visits to learn more about income generating activities. During the visits, the grandmothers were taught how to grow mushrooms. Your grandmothers can now grow mushrooms for their own meals and can also grow enough to sell and make a profit. Your donations make opportunities like this possible. Thank you!

Kellen is moving on up!

Meet Kellen. She is a 76-year-old woman raising five grandchildren between the ages of four and eight!
Kellen is an amazing woman and loves her family deeply. She has been an active member of her Nyaka Granny Group for many years and has received agricultural hoes, water harvesting tanks, and attended group trainings. Besides the struggles of raising five young children, Kellen was also challenged with providing a safe and stable home for her family. Her house was old and in very poor condition with a grass-thatched roof, crumbling kitchen, and a leaking pit latrine. It was no place for an elderly woman and five young children to live, so her Granny Group chose her to receive a new home. Construction is almost complete and Kellen couldn’t be happier.
Because of YOUR donation, new homes can be built for grandmothers like Kellen. Thank you for changing the lives of women who have nowhere else to turn!
