Provia's Hope is Back

Provia is a 56 year old grandmother raising three of her grandchildren - Robin 12 years old, Doreen 9 years old and Faith 5 years old. The children’s mother died after being sick for many years. After her death, the father brought the children to Provia. Their father leaves them at the grandmothers home and offers little to no support for them. Provia is left with the responsibility of raising her grandchildren now. Luckily, she has become an amazing saleswoman.
Provia’s has been part of BF Suma which sells various supplements and medications to the community. Some of their products that Provia sells include cordyceps supplements which greatly helps patients with high blood pressure; pure broken capsules (for diabetic people and AIDS patients which helps in boosting their immune system); Micro two tablets (help to clean veins of older persons to increase body blood circulation) and anatic herbal soap (cures skin rashes and ring worms plus other food nutrients). She sells her products from her home, at funerals, market places, churches and any other community gatherings.
There is a large market for these products and Provia is able to make a good profit by selling them, so she is able to provide for her grandchildren. Provia is thankful for the opportunity that has made her a business saleswoman of BF Suma products. She says the revolving fund that your donations go towards has helped her open up more friendships and learn more business skills, thus saying that her “hope is back”.

Granny Group is a Big Resource for Consirantah

Consirantah is a 65 year old woman who works hard to make ends meet. She was born and raised in Nyakishenyi and blessed with 10 children throughout her life. Unfortunately, three have died after battling sickness for a long time and the remaining children are unemployed with unstable sources of income. Since Consirantah’s family is unable to help her, she must support herself and her grandchildren who she is raising, aged 13 and 14. Her grandchildren came into her home after the death of their father, who was Consirantah’s son. The children’s mother had abandoned them at her home. Thankfully, Consirantah has her Granny Group to lean on. They have provided valuable resources to help support her and her grandchildren.
Consirantah has been an active member of her Granny Group for the last eight years. She is grateful to the Nyaka Grandmother Project for creating groups in the area. Through the project, she had been given a pit latrine, an agricultural hoe, a water harvesting tank and a mosquito net. These items are critical for Consirantah and her family to stay healthy. She has also been able to benefit from a microfinance loan that her group received from Nyaka. Consirantah used the loan to plant and grow Irish potatoes and sorghum. After the harvest, she was able to make a profit by selling some of the produce. By saving her profits, Consirantah has bought a goat, is able to send both of her grandchildren to school and can cater to the domestic needs in her home. Josephine's New Home

Joseline is 81 years old and one of the happiest grandmothers you’ve helped! She is a widow from Kameme village, Kanungu district, her two grandchildren (Daniel 14 years and Kyomuhendo 8) became her responsibility five years ago when their father died and their mother moved to a different town to remarry. Nyaka constructed a home for Joseline after discovering the tattered tent that her and her family were living in.
Joseline worried everyday about her family’s safety. They were living near Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is known for its wildlife. Joseline was convinced that wild animals would soon come into her tent and kill her and her grandchildren. During rainy seasons, she would surround her grandchildren all night to provide warmth but could never provide enough protection if an animal decided to attack them. She didn’t have money to provide a safer home and had completely lost hope for tomorrow.
Joseline was rejoiced when the Nyaka Grandmother Program came to help. She never imagined that anyone would ever build her a home. Her new home gave her a new outlook on life. Now she feels blessed to have a sturdy and safe place for her and her grandchildren. Joseline said that she has nothing that she can give to repay her gratitude but she will always pray for the kind and loving people who helped her through this tough time.
