Healthy Diets for Healthy Communities in Cameroon

First of all, we would like to sincerely thank our generous Global Giving donors for their continued support. We could not do this without you. 

Second, we would like to share about the exciting new partnership we have made with a local community. 

During the nutrition training we were conducting in Bonakanda (a local village), the FORUDEF banner and the training workshop attracted the attention of the president of a Common Interest Group in Bova II, a neighboring village. He came into the community hall and met with us. After a few questions and some discussion, we realized that the CIG in Bova II (Green Hills) village shares many common objectives with FORUDEF. The Green Hills' CIG works with bee hives for honey production, and also nurses various fruit trees for both improved honey quality (conservation) and the villagers’ diets. One of their main objectives was also to improve the nutrition of their village, but they lacked expertise.

This meeting was like a dream come true, as it allowed us to partner with another village and it allowed them to gain some valuable training and knowledge. After FORUDEF staff paid a visit to the group and their demonstration farm, FORUDEF decided to work with the Green Hills community. Since then we have carried out the first two phases of the nutrition program. The community has embraced the program and they are using their new knowledge and training to improve the nutrition of their families and community.

We continue to see interest in our program grow and we are grateful for the opportunities we have to partner with new communities.
