In response to rising food insecurity and restricted access to healthcare across informal settlements in rural Northern Aleppo, BESME INSANI executed an urgent child nutrition intervention. The initiative focused on providing therapeutic food supplies and medical monitoring to infants suffering from severe acute malnutrition in makeshift camp communities. Through this project, our nutrition officers provided direct treatment to 280 malnourished children and infants.
Prolonged poverty forces families to rely on calorie-poor, low-nutrient diets, severely compromising infant health. BESME INSANI’s field units delivered specialized high-energy peanut-paste treatments (RUTF) and therapeutic milk supplies directly to registered mothers. Community health workers also conducted door-to-door health screenings to identify undiagnosed malnutrition cases before severe complications developed.
Operations strictly followed international WASH and health protection standards. Nutrition specialists organized small-group awareness sessions for mothers, emphasizing proper hygiene, safe water preparation, and recommended infant feeding practices using limited resources.
The provision of life-saving therapeutic rations brings immediate stabilization to vulnerable infants, helping them regain weight and vitality within weeks. BESME INSANI extends its sincere gratitude to humanitarian donors whose support enables our medical staff to deliver vital child health interventions across Syrian displacement settlements.
