Our era in human history is unprecedented in the range of beautiful possibilities available to us AND in the scale of destruction already present and on its way due to the climate emergency and related crises. All of us are called upon to orient ourselves thoughtfully in this rapidly changing world. This project supports the growth of learning communities that can nurture young Asian leaders who are already bringing about change locally and beyond. It will address a variety of needs to do this.
We address a problem that is worldwide in scope: we desperately need leaders of integrity who will work for the good of everyone. Our sister project "Train Leaders in Asia..." has been effective at training young leaders since 2016. Many are now doing excellent work. Yet our graduates, like all leaders, need the support of a community they can rely on for both practical assistance and as a crucible for ongoing learning as our societies face crises that threaten humanity and all of life.
Your donations will a) provide concrete assistance to young leaders in Asia, with a focus on graduates of our leadership training programs; and b) make possible ongoing learning opportunities that will strengthen their ability to be compassionate initiators of change. Concrete assistance will range from helping with needed medical or disaster relief expenses to assisting those forced to seek asylum. This project will also fund ongoing training of trainers programs and a variety of scholarships.
When prevailing norms lead to ecological ruin, to social division, violence, and the hoarding of resources, communities of mutual caring that function well in the present are powerful examples of the world we all wish to bring into being. They will also be communities of mutual learning, in which the person and potential of each are cherished as we navigate a complex world. Building such communities now can help to realize a vision of peaceful and just societies that live in harmony with nature.
