“Democracy Week is an opportunity for students to practice active listening, express opinions respectfully, and experience the excitement of democratic participation firsthand.” —Ira Elan, Development and Media Coordinator
In November, the Primary School hosted its annual Democracy Week, a series of school-wide discussions and debates leading up to student council elections. This year’s theme explored the meaning of leadership and the qualities of effective leadership. The eight student council candidates, five girls and three boys, shared their ideas for how to improve the student experience over the coming year. The entire school participated in discussions that spread across classrooms and hallways, creating lively conversations about leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement.
