Spring is Coming

At Norwood, we are already anticipating the arrival of Spring - and the beginning of our outdoor Horticulture Therapy garden. We remain just over half-way to our goal.
Fortunately, now that the Memory Support Unit has residents, we are appealing to their family members to help us reach our goal. In addition, we have submitted grant requests to the Alzheimer's Foundation and several other smaller charitable foundations to help complete the funding of this project.
If you, your business, or a friend or neighbor has part of a charitable trust, family foundation, or corporate giving program, consider referring the donors to Norwood Life Care Foundation. We provide the very best in senior services - but can only do so with your continued generosity.

More Support for Dementia Care

We are pleased to report that one donor was so moved by our project, that he, in turn is intending to raise funds for us. You can support Brian in his first ever half-marathon by logging onto www.firstgiving.com/briancurley. He is hoping that 100 people will sponsor him just $1 per mile. Calling this a "Run to Remember," Brian's race will be run in memory of Jules and Martha DeZutter, former residents at Norwood, and the grandparents of his wife.

Things are really taking off now!

Thanks to so many of you, Norwood Life Care Foundation has now secured a spot on GlobalGiving. The resources that are available to us will make us a much more responsive, effective and efficient organization. We couldn't have done it without your help!
A bit of very exciting news to announce: During the course of the competition, Norwood Life Care Foundation has established a relationship with the Master Gardener's program from the University of Illinois extension campus. Starting in the spring of 2010, our campus will serve as an officially recognized site for Master Gardener candidates to do their required volunteer hours. This will have a major impact on our project in so many different ways:
1. The overall cost of the project will go down, as the need for labor expenses decreases.
2. The quality of our gardens will no doubt go up, as we glean the professional knowledge from our new group of volunteers, and
3. Most importantly perhaps, a whole new group of people will come to learn about the innovative programs and amazing care that seniors receive through the Norwood Life Care Foundation family of organizations.
As a result, our page may be inactive for a few days, while we edit the anticipated monetary needs of the program based on this exciting development.
But be sure to check back often, so you can see the progress we are making.
