World Action Fund (WAF) is implementing the No Mother Should Die Giving Life initiative to contribute to the prevention of avoidable maternal and newborn deaths in underserved communities in West Nile, Uganda.
The initiative focuses particularly on preeclampsia and eclampsia, two potentially life-threatening pregnancy complications that require early identification, appropriate management and timely referral.
The project is currently being mobilised through GlobalGiving. Although the fundraising target has not yet been reached, WAF remains committed to the initiative and continues to mobilise resources and partnerships so that more pregnant women, mothers and newborn children can benefit.
The project is built around community awareness, early screening, maternal-health outreach, health-worker capacity building and strengthening referral linkages.
