A Place to Connect: Bringing LGBTQ Youth Together

By Megumi Takai | Fundraising coordinator

A Place to Connect: Bringing LGBTQ Youth Together at Pride Center Osaka

For LGBTQ young people, finding others who understand their experiences is not always easy. Some may not have anyone around them with whom they feel comfortable talking openly about their identities or feelings. Having a place where they can simply be themselves and connect with others can make a meaningful difference.

At Pride Center Osaka, we hosted a gathering for LGBTQ youth aged 16 to 25, including those who are still exploring their identities. Seven young people came together for games, conversations, and connection.

The gathering began with a fun icebreaker game, where participants answered questions as they turned over playing cards. Everyone joined in enthusiastically, helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Participants then enjoyed a dice-based conversation game, choosing topics they wanted to talk about. There was no pressure to answer questions or share anything they were not comfortable with. This allowed conversations to flow naturally, with everyone participating at their own pace.

For some LGBTQ young people, opportunities to meet peers with similar experiences can be rare. Even a small gathering like this can offer an important opportunity to build connections, feel accepted, and discover that they are not alone.

Pride Center Osaka is more than just a place to visit. It is a community space where LGBTQ people can find support, build relationships, and return whenever they need a welcoming environment.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we can continue creating opportunities like this for LGBTQ youth. But keeping a welcoming space open and accessible requires ongoing support.

Please consider making a donation to Pride Center Osaka. Your contribution helps us keep our doors open and create more opportunities for LGBTQ young people to connect, find support, and feel that they belong.

Together, we can make sure that no one has to feel alone.
