As part of our mission at Aj Ty v IT to make tech education accessible and inclusive for girls across Slovakia, we recently delivered a hands-on robotics workshop using Ozobots for 15 girls aged 10-12 at a primary school in a small village in eastern Slovakia.
The €85 received through GlobalGiving was fully utilized to cover instructor fees, enabling us to bring the workshop directly to the school, an environment where no extracurricular tech activities are typically offered, and computer science is taught by a teacher without formal IT education.
This workshop introduced girls to the basics of robotics and programming playfully and engagingly, demonstrating that technology can be creative, fun, and accessible to everyone, not just boys. For most participants, it was their first exposure to coding and robotics, helping them to build confidence and imagine new possibilities for their future in tech.
These small-scale, high-impact workshops are a key part of our long-term strategy to reduce the gender gap in Slovakia’s IT sector by sparking early interest and showing girls that they belong in STEM.
Thank you for helping us reach girls who would otherwise be left behind.
