During the pandemic, Funduna Foundation project conducted virtual limited academic classes 3 days per week (4-5 hours per session) and managed to include the special sessions on speech therapy, counselling, and physical exercises to 50 boys and girls ages 12-17 who come from poor dysfunctional families and have disabilities that are either physical, intellectual, and emotional.
The pandemic brought about setback to several features of the project: Children were unable to hold open-space activities such as gardening and physical therapy. There was shortage of instructors, there was limited workshops provided to parents of these children employability skills and counselling on coping with drug abuse of their children and themselves.
Recently in-person classes and physical therapies were opened to limited number of patients.
In partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Babahoyo, Funduna organized food pantry and distribution to the community.
