By MARIA REYES | Executive Director, The Global ShareResource
New Dawn in Babahoyo project has undergone structural change. It was reorganized in Feb 2023 to form a new foundation, RIOSMER. In Jan 2024, the project was again reorganized when the partners from Guipuzkoa, Spain closed its offices and effectively closed the school for the mentally and physicalkly challenged.
The entire project is now under the responsiblity of the Diocese of Babahoyo, with Monsignor Skipper Yanez, as its direct project director. The Global ShareResource Foundation continues to support the project and remits funds to the Diocese directly to their bank account.
Progress on the status of the children in the program will be released in the next quarter.

With the greatest pleasure we held the graduation of the first group that completed the third stage of Job Training Workshops in occupational line: Cooking: cookies and snacks. There were 19 youths in the Occupational Therapy Group, who obtained their education and training diploma to join the labor market or carry out self-employment activities.
The FUNDUNA was reorganized and the new organzation is now called RIOSMER Foundation. It was registered with the provincial government after completing the bylaws and election of new officers. The local government will be sending more teachers and increase enrolment of the physically and mentally challenged youths to undergo Occupational Therapy.
RIOSMER Foundation means Los Ríos - Las Mercedes. Los Ríos the province where the Basque missionary group has been working for more than half a century; and Las Mercedes because the city is placed in the hands of Our Lady the Virgin of Mercy.
RIOSMER is now recognized by the Edcation District as a school providing Special Education Training to youths with physical and mental disabilities.
