The indifferent treatment towards the homeless dogs and cats in Tabio has inspired us into action. Our solution is to create a pioneer project to raise awareness on the current situation and to become champion for homeless animals whose lives are worth saving. We would like to invite you to become an integral part of this important project!
The municipality of Tabio currently faces the challenge of having large amount of abandoned animals. To make the situation worse, the municipality lacks an official entity to look after the welfares of these homeless animals. As a result the population of homeless animals increases constantly through uncontrolled reproduction. The growing population adversely affects the public health through the wide spread of infectious diseases amongst the homeless animal population.
With your support, we will contract veterinarian services to spay and neuter the homeless canine and feline population. Additionally, we will also register and identify them by implants with microchips. Our activities aim to reduce overpopulation and stop the transmission of contagious diseases.
By reintroducing the neutered and identified population back to the environment, we aim to break the vicious cycle of the reproduction of ill and/or aggressive homeless animals in our society and generate acceptance, tolerance and respect towards the most vulnerable members of the population. We hope that our initiative will motivate more animal protection groups all over Colombia to develop similar projects for the benefit and well-being of the homeless animals.
