Following our highly successful food, health and nutrition initiative in Nepal during the earthquake of 2015 and with overwhelming request from local leaders and organizations we are launching a similar project focusing on the same thematic areas with the main aim of improving the lives of poor villagers. We will target 1,000 poor households in the provision of food and farming inputs, technical knowledge and nutrition improvement capabilities.
Nepal is a very vulnerable country for calamities such as earthquakes. Communities are poor and need a lot of help. We will provide support services comprising food, health and livelihood packages in areas where we have presence during the 2015 earthquake and where we maintain contacts with local organizations there. We will initially target 2,000 beneficiaries and increase these as we expand our work.
The needs of poor villagers in Nepal are many and need multi-pronged actions, thus our intervention comprising the most important of these needs which are food, health and livelihood support. We will fine-tune our initiatives with what the villagers really need under our broad themes of food, health and livelihood. We will bring to bear in Nepal our more than 20 years of support to poor communities and we are sure to get good results.
Improvement of the basic conditions especially in the area of food, health and increase in income of poor villagers in several communities in Nepal. Our intervention is hoped to empower local citizens, promote synergistic development and improvement in the communities.
