Fearing persecution and more violence, nearly the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh has fled their homes and is now forcibly displaced in Armenia. We are channeling donations into our Challenge Fund for Emergency Response which supports Armenian nonprofit organizations so they can respond to crises and the needs of their communities.
Ten months after Azerbaijan blockaded the Lachin corridor cutting off food and other vital resources military troops launched an offensive on Nagorno-Karabakh. Fearing persecution and more violence, nearly the entire population of Nagorno-Karabakh has fled their homes. Most displaced families are now arriving in Armenia with little to no resources to start their lives again.
Your support today will directly fund priority responses such as: 1) Increasing bakery production in a border community to distribute baked goods and provide job opportunities to displaced persons. 2) Supporting local businesses and civic groups to produce and distribute food, hygienic items, heaters, mattresses, and household items. 3) Distribution of clothing and bedding made by displaced women, providing job opportunities. 4) Organizing artistic activities for displaced children.
Near East Foundation is coordinating with our diverse network of local partner organizations to implement an emergency response that supports families and individuals who have fled to Armenia for safety. Through these partnerships, NEF will provide support that has a lasting impact as it is tailored to changing conditions and locally identified priorities and recognizes the leadership of Armenians working on the front lines of this crisis.
