Many children in Mpigi and Wakiso are sent home for unpaid school fees or no uniform. Mountains of Hope keeps vulnerable children aged 5-16 in school by providing fees, uniforms, books, and bags. $100 keeps 1 child in class for 1 term. $300 covers fees + uniform + books for 1 year. Your donation stops dropouts and gives children a fair chance.
Over 40% of Ugandan primary students drop out due to school fees and lack of materials. Most parents in Kampala earn $5 daily as boda riders or vendors. Termly fees of $100 plus $25 for uniform are impossible. Without help, children stay home, risking child labor and early marriage. Education is the way out, but cost blocks it.
We remove the 3 biggest barriers: fees, uniforms, and books. We partner with 8 schools in Mpigi and Wakiso. Teachers identify the neediest children. Parents contribute labor where possible. Your impact: $20- Books for 2 children, 1 term $25 - Uniform for 1 child $300 - Fees for 1 child, 1 term 75 - Full package for 1 child, 1 year School management verifies attendance every term.
Educated children break cycles of poverty. Every child we keep in school is 1 less child on Kampala streets, 1 more future teacher or nurse. Graduates mentor younger students. Parents report higher income because educated children help with family business
