CFCD holds Youth Camp on Ethics and Values

By Emmanuel Ande Ivorgba | Executive Director

Centre for Faith and Community Development (CFCD), in partnership with The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center in partnership hosted the 2-Day Youth Camp on National Ethics and Values, from March 14-15, 2025 at Novel Suites, Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, to engage young people in discussions about the importance of ethics and values in shaping the future of Nigeria. The camp attracted 35 young men and women, aged 20-35 years, from various backgrounds, fostering a diverse environment for learning and collaboration.

Objectives of the Youth Camp:

  1. To educate youths on the fundamental principles of national ethics and values.
  2. To encourage the adoption of ethical behavior among participants.
  3. To provide a platform for young leaders to discuss challenges facing Nigeria and develop actionable solutions.
  4. To promote unity and patriotism among the youth

Through engaging discussions, interactive workshops, and team-building activities, we aim to inspire positive change and foster a culture of integrity and respect within our communities. Participants brainstormed initiatives they could implement in their local communities to promote ethical behavior and national values. We believe that by coming together and sharing knowledge and experiences, the Youth Camp create a ripple effect that will resonate throughout Nigeria and beyond. Together, we can make a difference and set a positive example for future generations.

Keynote Speakers and Special Guests included:

  1. Mr. Gogin Yohanna Philibus, Deputy Director, Administration and Finance at the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Plateau State Office, who represented the State Director
  2. Prince Charles Dickson, PhD, Team Lead, The Tattaaunawa Roundtable Initiative, Nigeria Peacebuilding Expert, Peace Insight
  3. Aagii Nasanjargal, Indiana University, USA
  4. Pastor Michael Ekerete Ekpo, Member, National Planning Committee for National Rebranding and Ethics
  5. Associate Prof. Joseph Maren, Rector, College of Peace and Reconciliation Studies, Jos
  6. Mr. Jacob Choji Pwakim, Executive Director, YIAVHA

The 2-Day Youth Camp on National Ethics and Values was a resounding success, empowering youths to become advocates for positive change in Nigeria. The workshops, discussions, and cultural activities fostered a sense of community and a commitment to uphold ethical standards. The camp successfully fostered a sense of responsibility among the youth regarding national ethics and values. The insights gained and the bonds formed among participants are expected to create a ripple effect in their communities. The Emmanuel Ivorgba Center plans to continue this initiative, organizing follow-up events to monitor the implementation of the participants' action plans and further engage them in ongoing conversations about ethics and values in Nigeria.

Closing Ceremony

Participants presented their action plans to the audience and received feedback from facilitators. Certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees, and special recognition was given to participants for exceptional leadership and creativity in their group activities.

Recommendations

  1. Follow-Up Workshops: Organize regular follow-up sessions to maintain momentum and support participants in their proposed projects.
  2. Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship opportunities connecting experienced leaders with youth to guide them in their initiatives.

Broader Outreach: Increase outreach efforts to include more youths across different regions to enhance diversity and representation.
