Raising African Leaders from Rural Communities: A Beneficiary’s Story
Shiabu grew up in Jamera, a village in the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana. He attended Nafana Presby Senior High School in Sampa and completed in May 2013. After school, he knew he could not rely on his parents low income from farming to further his education. As a result, he began to search for other opportunities to help him save for his tertiary education. However, his savings were never enough to get him to school.
In 2014, Shiabu was awarded a scholarship by NAPE Foundation to pursue a Diploma in Business Administration at Palm Institute through the Matthew Essieh Scholarship Fund. During his stay at Palm, Shiabu was one of six students selected to represent Palm Institute in the New Business Challenge 2016 (a business case competition organised by the Ghana Netherlands Business and Cultural Council). Shiabu was an ambitious student who constantly challenged himself to do more.
Since graduating from Palm Institute in October 2016, Shiabu has been completing his national service with the National Health Insurance Scheme in Sampa. He recently gained permanent employment at the Brong-Ahafo Catholic Co-operative Society for Development in Sampa. We are excited about this achievement and grateful to donors who have contributed significantly towards the education of students at Palm Institute.
Shaibu’s long-term goal is to become a specialist in risk management. He also wants to assist financially challenged students to reach their educational and career development goals in the same way he was supported.
With your donation, we can transform the lives of twenty (20) more students like Shaibu by giving them access to higher education. You have the power to make the difference!
