Cheerful Hearts Foundation plans to develop Nali International School to assist the poorest families in the community. Initial project is to construct fresh access to sanitary drinking water. We also aim to reconstruct the toilet facilities as current ones are near collapse & the leaking sewage is risking the children's health. We seek sustainable resources development with investment in textbooks and learning aids so that children can borrow & prevent financial burden keeping them out of school
The school is hampered by poverty in the region. School fees are just 30 Cedis(15 $US) a semester, but many families struggle to afford to go to a school with such limited resources, and therefore keep them at home to work. Deprived schools cannot always offer a full education, therefore 50% of local children do not complete their studies. They fail to break free of the poverty cycle due to lack of skills for adult life. The poor water/toilet facilities are also an extremely serious health risk.
Cheerful Hearts does not handout donations to parents and children, but encourages them to remain committed to school education through developing the schools facilities and helping protect the children's health. We know that long-standing development will leave a legacy, and the surrounding community will take notice and enable Nali High to thrive. It will kickstart the school to become more sustainable and focus on improving the operation of the school rather than it's lack of resources.
Cheerful Hearts plans to leave a legacy of opportunity in education for over 110 poverty-stricken families in the area and ensure stable school infrastructure. The projects we build & implement will leave legacy for decades. It will empower the youth, parents, and create opportunities to raise income with the lifelong advantage of a formal education. At the project's forefront is for the developed school to run at a local sustainable level, supported by the community for many future generations.
