Nafasi Art Space is Tanzania's leading multidisciplinary art centre. To deepen our impact of creativity, education and connections for even more Tanzanian art and artists, we want to develop our creative infrastructure - starting with a shared workshop space for our Academy artist development programme and a Networking space with a shop, reception area, digital media lab, and co-working spaces. More than 50 artists will use these spaces to explore their artistic ideas and share with the public.
The COVID-19 pandemic hit the cultural sector in Tanzania extremely hard, leading to drastically reduced income and opportunities for practicing artists. While artists and audiences return, Nafasi is looking for ways to support artists safely and respectively according to social distancing regulations. Our current spaces are not capable to facilitate the growth of members moving through Nafasi. We are running out of working spaces and we need your help!
To continue spreading our impact of creativity, education and connections we have raised 4,500$ to build new spaces. We imagine these areas as new hubs for our trainings and community. Envisioning an academy and networking space that can facilitate our platform and amplify Nafasi's impact. Allowing us to host current artists and growing members safely in indoor and outdoor spaces.
These spaces will help us to meet the future growth of the organisation, and allow us to host more people and foster new collaborations safely. contributing to the resilience and impact of our organisation. We would like for our members to have a place they can continue to connect and grow after their trainings. Creating our digital art lab will allow us to diversify our programmes and lead in the rising digital contemporary art scene in Tanzania.
