Who are the people working the gardens in Bergnek?
Meeting needs
In this update we would like to introduce you to meet one of the people in Bergnek, that benefits from My World In a Garden and histhoughts about the community he lives in and the aspirations he has for himself.
Rudolf S.
Where do you live Rudolf? Tell us about your family?
We live in a shack that is divided into two rooms that 5 of us live in. We have one parent and us four children. My mother is unemployed and has no income.
Do you work or do chores?
I am not working as I am staying in school to complete my grade 12. My chores are all about my family and so I am responsible for making sure my siblings all go to school. I also help the other children with their homework.
What are your skills? What would you like to do?
I am really good at teaching people mathematics and geography. I love to work with financial data
What are your goals?
When I grow up I want to become a Chartered Accountant. I will be really happy to see real business come to our community.
What is your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge is to be without opportunities and to come from disadvantaged families. We need more opportunities to come to our community. The GirlsStuff and the Gardens are a start but we need them to me more.
As you can tell, there is a long way to go in the community and the My World In a Garden, vertical gardens are but a start. The community desperately needs help to create additional opportunities and to make the gardens a viable and successful business.
How about making a new donation today? Making a donation of $25 right now, will help children and families in need, in the Bergnek Community. Making it a recurring donation will feed the children of Bergnek all year long.
This coming year we are determined to build three more walls in Bergnek at strategic locations in the community that enable the elderly community members to tend the walls and get their vegetables without too far of a walk.
Each wall costs around $3,500 to build, in rural South Africa. We really need your support!
Let’s keep the My World In a Garden vertical gardens growing in 2016 by DONATING NOW!
GRATITUDE
Whatever you decide, please do it today! The girls, women and children we serve extend a warm smile and heartfelt ‘thank you’ for your support. We are all grateful for your support.
With our deepest Gratitude,
The My Arms Wide Open Family of Communities
