MusicXChange is a nonprofit organization which is tax exempt (501 c 3) in the United States. Our mission is aimed at preserving promoting traditional African music and culture. This campaign will establish a fund to provide grants and support for local community based projects in music production, music education and music therapy in Ghana.
As our world becomes increasingly globalized, traditional artistic culture in Africa is fading away at an alarming rate, resulting in an irreplaceable loss of important cultural heritage. As a result of this and other economic factors, traditional music may soon cease to be a significant part of the lives of many people, particularly children, the elderly and those in need of healing who could especially benefit from the power of music.
We aim to preserve and promote traditional African music and culture through a multifaceted approach: - We directly impact communities by awarding small sustainable grants to local organizations who are working at the grassroots level to provide Music Education, Music Therapy and Music Production programs in Ghana. - We provide free recording opportunities to local artists who perform traditional music and share their work with a global audience.
In the coming year, we will provide music education to over 300 local children and employ 10 musician instructors in various regions of Ghana. We also plan to introduce a music therapy in at least one local Ghanaian hospital. We will produce an album of traditional music and share it with a global audience, allowing artists to promote their art.Through our website, social media and promotions, we hope to draw increased attention to and promote an appreciation for traditional African music.
