Smiles for you!

For dozens of schools, 2016 was a jubilant year. We awarded over 1,500 instruments to 64 schools across the country.
If you've ever wondered what happens to a school's music program after an instrument donation, know that we stay involved to make sure that their music program thrives for all the kids who will play those instruments over many years.
Music education matters and your support shows us that it matters a lot to you too. Thank you again for your trust in us to keep music alive in our schools. We couldn't do it without you!

A Very Special Moment
By Felice Mancini | President and CEO

Every now and then, something special happens that validates your choices in life, your values and your passion. I want to thank you for choosing to support our work and make a real difference for children.
On October 17, MHOF was thanked in a very public and special way for 20 years of keeping music alive for kids across the country. In receiving the National Arts Education Award from Americans for the Arts, I stepped up to accept the honor from a young violinist who recently benefited from our work, Brianna, who attends school in the Bronx.
In accepting the award, all I could think of was all of you - without you we wouldn’t be here doing the work you want us to do. Please take a moment to watch this wonderful video from the evening, and be proud of what you make possible.

Banning HS students with their new instruments!
As you’re enjoying the summer months, know that we’re working diligently to make sure that more students will be able to join band in the Fall.
We just awarded over 1,000 instruments to 56 schools in 20 states. Click here to see the schools that will have new instruments for their kids to play on their first day back.
And remember that each instrument we give to a school remains there for many years, allowing generations of youngsters to benefit, just like Frank Rico’s students at Bell Gardens High School in Bell Gardens, CA. Frank had this to say a year after we donated 48 instruments to his music program:
"As a result of your donation, students are able to take instruments home and practice. This has never happened in my ten years as a teacher. As a result, our band program is growing not only in numbers, but we have the option of rehearsing more advanced band literature now that students have their own assigned instrument. It is a beautiful relief to see students more at ease due to not having to worry if they will have an instrument to check out. We are genuinely grateful for the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation for what they provide to our students."
Your support means the world to so many kids. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
