The campaign to promote environmental best practices through Music in Cameroon, in the last 3 months was taken to the basic education level. The pupils of the Solution Centre Phonetic Education school for the past 3 months have been trained on the importance of singing sustainable music. During our time with these children, certain environmental problems affecting our environment such as climate change, deforestation and their effects where made known to the school children. At the forefront of this training was the Camer Green Ambassador Leslin. She took out time to develop short and simple lyrics which were used to educate the pupils during our time with them. The children of this school were excited learning new songs and poems different from the normal day to day songs they hear around. They were encouraged to sing these songs at home to their families so as to pass on the message.
In the last phase of our time with the children, they were encouraged to develop simple poems and even songs about certain environmental challenges they know the nation is facing. Awards were made available to 5 pupils with the best poems and songs.
The Solution Centre School is located in Limbe the South West Region of Cameroon. We plan on taking the campaign to other schools around the regions if possible.
