Dear Donor,
Thank you for your support of our work bringing music to early childhood education, Head Start programs, and daycare centers by training the caregivers and teachers to sing, play, and lead songs for learning. This work is growing by leaps and bounds thanks to support from donors like you who understand the importance of music as a source of joyful learning, play, and connection during kids most formative years!
This summer we held free programs for children as young as five through the local schools, and wow did these kids make music! It's exciting to see what they come up with when given the instruction, encouragement, freedom, and instruments to get creative. We heard songs about feelings, robots, pizza, dinosaurs, tress, bees, family, swimming, and summertime adventures. It was glorious!
Right now we are planning free back-to-school workshops, and we have full enrollment for the first intensive trainings for early childhood educators from the bottom to the top of San Diego County on August 22nd. Local donors in San Diego have individually contributed $1700 to purchase waterman drop-proof ukuleles for 34 early childhood classrooms this fall!
The best news is that we received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to bring this work state-wide, and a grant from the Dr. Seuss Foundation to help with coaching residencies in the local preschools. These funds are for specific use in California only. But the teachers we train this fall online will need your help in other states where they teach.
California is just ONE out of FORTY states where early childhood educators are learning to bring music to child development centers, Head Start programs, family daycares, and kindergarten classrooms.
This campaign on GlobalGiving.org gives you a chance to teachers working with children from birth to five anywhere in the U.S because we are opening two free virtual classes at our website in September for ECE. We expect 50 participants, Many come from the East Coast, the Southeast, and the Northeast and Northwest.
If you’d like to help children across our nation, this campaign on GlobalGiving.org is a wonderful way to accomplish that goal, and we’d deeply appreciate your support this school year. Thank you so much for your generosity and care. There are a lot of future strummers and rockers out there waiting for someone who know how much music matters to make a difference.
I wish you a beautiful autumn coming right around the corner,
Jess
