This summer we went back to Paramaribo to see all the children of our projects in 2017 and 2018 again. We mainly focussed on children from Latour and Sunny Point. It was great to see that so many children wanted to participate. We even had to set age restrictions otherwise more children would be there then we could handle. We gave them after school workshops in dance, basketball and music. Working with a dedicated team from local coaches we still knew from our previous projects. We had good conversations how we could continue our work for the youth of Suriname. The economic situation is very bad at the moment so we would like to add intensive courses in our next program so the teenagers can learn quickly skills that could help them get an income for their family.
We are very motivated to do more for Suriname now we have gone back and feel the hunger of this young generation wanting to learn more and move more.
We will start soon with new fundraising activities to go back to Suriname with a more extended project in 2024.
