Sunny Point is a neighborhood in Suriname without police control where children live in poor conditions. In 2017, 2018,2023 we launched a dance, sports and rap community project for teenagers from this area. The talented children in Sunny Point stole our hearts and with your donation we will go back in 2024. Our plan is to create this time not only a project with dance, sports and music. We will learn them skills that give them directly an income which is needed for families from this area.
There are no opportunities in this area called Sunny Point to express yourself as a child in sport, dance, music. Poor area with drugs, alcohol and abuse issues within families. No sports field or community center.
Talent development will help to boost the confidence of our target group. We will help them to become more resilient. And this community project in 2024 also focus on learning them new skills which can generate an income. The economic situation especially in Sunny Point is really bad and we like to show this new generation an alternative way then earning money with criminal activities. Which unfortunately is the most common choice for the children growing up in Sunny Point.
Suriname is a country where it is not easy to create long-term impact. But we do try to keep organizing activities with local organizations and coaches as much as possible. We have collected a great team of coaches in Suriname in the two years we have been active in this country.
