There are millions of orphan children in India, a very large section among these are institutionalized. CSA as its ongoing activity keeps referring to families (who are willing to adopt) to the children who are waiting in rural adoption agencies. One of the parent Supriya (name change) approached CSA and showed her willingness to adopt a child. I therefore referred them to the adoption agency where the baby Saksham of their preference was available for adoption. Within 15 days the family prepared the list of required documents and completed all the formality and bought baby Saksham (5 months old) to their family under foster care.
IDEA Foundation an NGO organized there foundation day event wherein there was a lecture on parenthood by a well known child psychologist. I met Supriya with her baby at this function and found her to be very happy. She shared that her mother in law was not ready for adopting child. She always kept abusing her for not being able to give birth to child and used to harass her in some or the other way. Since Saksham came in their family the mother in law’s attitude has been changed towards her. Saksham is most attached to her mother in law then her. Now the granny of Saksham says “why you didn’t adopt him earlier, I would have got more time with him”.
Meanwhile Saksham felt sleepy Supriya made him comfortable and weaved him slowly and within seconds he felt fast to sleep, feeling very secure in his mumma’s arm. No one can believe after looking at them that they don’t share blood relationship. I think this relationship is beyond blood relationship………
