FAME, Inc. prepares and motivates girls and minority students for college. The pre-college enrichment program motivates students in grades 7-12 to enter college and complete a baccalaureate degree in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).
There continues to be a lack of engineers and scientists in America. Students are not choosing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses, majors, or careers locally or nationwide. Delaware will need to fill 31,000 STEM -related jobs by 2018. To achieve that goal collaborative efforts must be made with organizations at the forefront of STEM education.
FAME encourages and supports students to pursue careers in the STEM industries. FAME, Inc. helps provide mentors and role models as well as information and forums for students and families. 99% of our students graduate from high school and 88% of our students choose to major in STEM fields of study.
We will motivate and prepare at least 250 students in grades 7-12, each year, to enter and complete baccalaureate degrees in engineering, science, math or related STEM fields of study. Our program will provide information and forums to students and families. By promoting the importance of STEM education, we are infusing the community with the next generation of STEM leaders.
