For 20 years, Tamar Center has offered hope, healing and a new life to the prostitutes in Pattaya, Thailand. Our future vision is to reach bar girls and their children through opening a guest house and adding 6 more vocational training options centered on the hospitality industry. We will also create an expanded counseling center, to offer services to women, their children and the Pattaya community. On the 3rd of September we purchased the building and started renovations! Update doc attached.
Tamar does not have the space required to open a guest house or an expanded counseling center. We are raising money to purchase a building and do the renovations. This will provide the needed space for both Tamar Guest house and the Palm Center. A detailed description and Business Plan is available on request.
Today, we provide counseling and vocational training for the women who come out of the bars. In the future, the expanded Palm Center will still counsel the women, but will offer counseling for the Tamar children, crisis pregnancy advice to the girls while still in the bars, and self-help groups on addictive behaviors for the community. Furthermore, we will open Tamar Guest House where we will teach the women 6 high demand jobs focused on the ever growing Tourist Industry in Thailand.
Our goal for the women is to be emotionally healthy, to be able to support themselves and their families, and to break the cycle of abuse and poverty. In-demand job skills, mentoring, and counseling the women, their children, and the greater community creates a healthy environment for them to live and to grow. These women can then become productive members of society, maybe return to their families, and to have a normal life outside of the sex industry.
