More equal opportunities for rural women

Things are going well !

The women are so happy with their new knowledge, that we are now setting up a new sewing workshop! This time we will explain new techniques (more complex) so that they can make new garments.

We are also very happy that we have the financial support of the municipal government. They will pay a part of the necessary fabrics ! They will also cover part of the rent of the sewing center. It is a big step forward for us but even more for the recognition of the work done by these women. The impact of the government supporting them gives even more legitimacy to their actions.

We are also negotiating with the different schools in the communities to buy the school report directly from the sewing center. In this way, we ensure a constant and secure income.

We are very proud of this new adventure. We are already seeing that more and more women (young and old) are motivated to take charge of their economic situation.

Today I am very happy!

A group of women could participate in the first sewing workshop. It was an excellent opportunity for them to learn the basics of sewing. There was a large audience of teenage girls, seeing in these workshops an opportunity for autonomy.

This first workshop will be replicated to other communities in the coming weeks.

Moreover, during a fair, they were able to present their art to the whole population and thus generate a new economic income for their family and above all for their own independence.

Presentation in schools (especially in secondary levels) will be done, so that more girls can benefit from these trainings.

One of the future activities is the creation of the sewing center, run only by women!
