Support Montessori public education in Puerto Rico

We reached the goal

In the last report we wrote about a hopeful start of classes and this time the semester has ended with great joy.

During this semester, the Instituto Nueva Escuela (INE) achieved to get the American Montessori Society (AMS) to grant the Certificate of Affiliation to the Montessori Directors Course, making us the first Montessori training center in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean to offer it.

Also some 20 schools started an environmental project in their public Montessori schools in which some 423 students participated in vegetable gardens, nurseries and butterfly farms.

We celebrate that the Puerto Rican architect Luis Berrios Negrón joined the transformation of the Montessori ecological school in Ciales by creating a design for this school community.

And we know that with the end of the semester summer arrives and with it the courses begin where some 114 teachers will begin their certification in Montessori philosophy and methodology.

The fact that there are educators getting certified this summer is growth for the Public Montessori project in Puerto Rico, since the first steps in transforming a school is for teachers to get certified.

Last but not least, thanks to you we surpassed the $50,000 goal for this fundraising project. We invite you to continue supporting Montessori public education in Puerto Rico so that more children and youths have access to a public education of excellence.
