As we near summer, we wanted to provide you with an update on how our project is going with providing Movement Monitors to those experiencing seizures. We are very excited to share with you that we have had the privilege of providing more than 1200 lifesaving monitors to the Epilepsy Community! That is 1200 individuals and families that can have a little Comfort and Hope knowing that their monitor is working to help save them against SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). We believe that these monitors save lives. We believe that having these monitors help our community to stay vigilant and do everything they can to help prevent SUDEP.
We provide several different monitors, depending on the types of seizures that individual has. We offer a nighttime movement camera that alarms after a specified intensity of movement and time. We offer watches that detect repetitive motion and alert contacts the user has chosen through their cell phone. We offer a pad that goes under the mattress that detects repetitive motion, as well as if the user gets out of bed, and alarms. We also offer a wearable pulse oximeter/heart rate monitor that alerts when specific parameters are reached. All of the monitors have the ability to be customized to the individual! We hear frequently from families that they feel that the monitor they have for their child/family member has saved their life. Many tell us how much it means to have a "backup" set of eyes watching their loved one. And because of you, we have been able to continue doing this. We could not be more thankful!
