Ever smiling little girl of 8 years Sarbani* from remote Nandakumarpur village in deep Sunderbans studies at 2nd Standard in our Model School - ‘Kishalaya Sishu Siksha Niketan’-(KSSN) in the same village.
In absence of any livelihood resource that supports sufficient earning Sarbani’s* father Mr. Balmiki* forced to go to New Delhi to work as a daily wage labourer. Yet he could earn only up to INR. 4500.00 per month. Her mother Mrs. Suniti* is a home maker. Yet, poverty couldn’t make any hindrance at their strong determination to make their daughter educated. Thus, they came over all financial steepness and send Sarbani to our model school. Thus she got admitted four years ago. The Parents say, “Four years back our daughter was an ordinary village girl. But, now she has become smarter. It is evident that she is receiving education properly and gradually becoming confident by the Model School.”
As observed, Sarbani* is an ardent and fast learner. She is good in both English and Bengali languages. She is also good in other subjects. Bengali is her favourite subject. She has also performed well in the last test in Bengali subject. Her hand writing in Bengali is also good. She loves playing and takes a lead role in any games. She takes part in the cultural programme initiatives very enthusiastically.
Sarbani* has learnt to maintain discipline from her family where she stays along jointly with Uncles, Aunts, Grandparents and cousins. Most remarkably, Sarbani* is highly alert in maintaining her personal hygiene. Her percentage in the school attendance and examination is really appreciable.
During our visit to her house her grandmother told, “My grandchild, Sarbani loves the Model School so much that we think it was our best decision to get her admitted in the school.” Though not conceived yet Sarbani* wants to attain something big in her life and serve the community.
We are deeply indebted to our suporters and donors for their contrbution in the programme. Your suport has helped childern of remote Sunderbans lke Sarbani to have a better education and brighter future.
