Challenge

The following problems associated with wheelchairs currently being supplied in emergencies need to be addressed: Unavailability of custom-made aids, appliances and wheelchairs Inadaptability - hard to adjust to specific needs of children/people with disability The design, durability and quality tend to be inappropriate for the rough terrain and challenging environments typically involved in emergencies They do not meet international standards They have no accompanying training package

Solution

A customized assistive device is tailored for the individual based on a three-dimensional impression or image of the part of the body with adjustments made to influence the body alignment and position. Individual customization of assistive devices potentially offers selective and targeted intervention to address the impairment which could prevent or reduce the disability. A custom-made assistive device is a highly specialized device that is manufactured from a cast of the individual child.

Long-Term Impact

Basic mobility to people within, outside their residence and community Mobility will render opportunity to access education, training, therapy and livelihood to majority of these people Lesser functional dependence on other family members. This enables family members to pursue their own activities Regain in confidence, hope and drive towards a productive life on having the "ability to move" as per one's choice and will. 630 assistive and adaptive devices & wheelchairs to the needy.
