Dear Donors & Supporters
It's been four months since our last update but first and foremost we would like to thank you for your generosity and continuous support in helping our initiative on mobilising women farmers towards a women-led Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO). We couldn't be more grateful especially during this challenging COVID-19 time that has exacerbated the difficulties that people in rural villages face.
Thus far on this project we have raised $1,308.78 thanks to our incredible donors community at GlobalGiving! Despite the slow ease of restrictions caused by the pandemic, the COVID-19 pandemic has created greater distances and difficult access to facilities. Nonetheless, Blossom trust has continuously operated with assisting marginalised groups through building economic resilience with the mission of empowering them to empower their community. Through our Virudhunagar farming community project, we aim our local female farmers to take ownership of their work and strengthen their financial security and recognition within the agricultural sector.
We are glad to infirm you that we have finalised phase one of the project. Over these past months our self-help groups network of women successfully committed to organising women farmers Interest Groups into two groups who are ready to mobilize for changes.
We are now ready to go ahead with the second phase of the project that will initiate the training process to strengthen their capacity and knowledge on agricultural activities, financial and food security.
Aiming at helping female farmers to better manage their finances, our training program focuses on financial literacy and entrepreneurial skill-building. The training purpose also intends to improve skills on new climate-resilient agricultural techniques and to adopt strategies on how to prepare for the adverse climate whilst enhancing rural productivity. Throughout training sessions and gender advocacy, our Interest Groups will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to be entrepreneurs of their business and leader of changes.
Thank you and stay safe!
Together we are stronger. With your contribution and generosity, we were able to reach 1000 beneficiaries into 50 SHGs built up of 20 members and make an impact on sustainable changes in the lives of these women who need and deserve recognition and a fair role in the agricultural value chain.
We will keep you informed on next steps and the progress that our female farmers will make!
With best wishes and our sincere gratitude,
Mercy Annapoorani & Blossom Trust Team
