The reporting period from february 2023 to April 2023, the rural women who were affected by the smoke in the kitchen were suppoted through various income genarating activities such as fruit and corn sapling training, training on using improved stoves, etc. MRC Nepal helps such victims by providing different capacity building training to sustain and maintan their livelihood in an appropriate way.They also supported solar panel for night lamp and mobile charging where there is no electricity.

The affected women were also provided education on the conequences of the harmful affect of smoke in the health.They were taught about differant diseases that can be obtained from harmful smoke produced in the kitchen. They are provided special training on the use of improved smoke which minimize the smoke and helps to keep the health in good condition. MRC Nepal and GLOBAL GIVING provide them al the necessities that can be helpful for them to maintain the livelihood and daily activities.Thanks to GLOBAL GIVING.

The poor rural women in nepal because of poverty and the effect of COVID-19 pandemic have been severely affected by daily livelihood and their basic health and sanitation.They still not capable of buying LP gas to cook their meals.So that they cook their foods on extracting fuel woods which generates harmful smoke in the kitchen and induce for pulmonary disease due to some time produces toxic gases.

In such circumstances MRC Nepal supply and support portable cookstove which minimizes indoor smoke pollution and minimizing the number of using fuel wood. Hence,the support improve the health of the women and children and minimize the need of fuel wood also. These beneficiaries also supported by providing quality vegetable seeds with improved technologies that hely generating attractive income from the sale of vegetable products.

In this regards the support addresses improving livelihood and health both,so that the beneficiaries thank to GLOBAL GIVING and MRC Nepal both for these support.

The poor people in the rural hills of Nepal during this rainy season June -September have been facing with many risks,threat and difficulties for day to day livelihood causing from landslides and heavy flooding.They have very miserable life during these period.

With these difficult situation MRC Nepal organize thes affected people in group and conducted many disaster risk reduction measures through awreness raising training.Also the organization distributed portable cookstove for cooking their foods and meal as the kitchen and woods are wet during this period.

 

The implementing organization in the region the MRC Nepal conducted many capacity building training on Agriculture and technical backstopping support to the affected poor producers so that these people generate income from the improved agricultural system.The organzation MRC Nepal raise houshold income from the improved agricultural technologies  through supporting improved seeds,nutrients,training and technical backstopping support continuously.So that affected beneficiaries are capable of improving their day to day livelihood,education of the children,health and social ceremonies from the increased incomeThe affected beneficiaries thank to GLOBAL GIVING and MRC Nepal.

Now,beneficiaries are pleased to continue and sustain the income generating activities in a long run.

The Poor women and Girls in rural remote areas of Nepal affected by heavy indoor smoke pollution in the kitchen have now been engaging with several income generating opportunities and slowly by slowly come back with building back better. Mainly the income generating activities are eco friendly fresh vegetable production activities where the victim families introduced the crop varieties of high yielding market potential varieties with very attractive market price incresing income.

These affected families were trained with required level of skill enhancement training with technical backstopping support by MRC Nepal. MRC Nepal is highly pleased with these beneficiaries because of having sustainable vegetable production activities that generated very good income.So that these families now raise their standard of living in terms of better education,health,fooding,clothing and social ceremonies because of incraesd income from vegetables.At the end they express their sincere thanks to GLOBAL GIVING Team and MRC Nepal by virtue of which they enrolled and connected in the program. Other beneficiaries in the surroundings are also benefiting from the program.There is grater scope of scalability,replicability and sustainability.

The poor marginal women during this quarter from November 2021 to January 2022 have been suffered and affected by heavy rainfall (in Nepal rainy season starts from June-August) which caused heavy losses of Paddy crops which were ready for harvesting and threshing.Paddy crops in million of the ha were damaged and deteriorate the food quality and seed quality.Our flood affected victim families were the major sufferer and directly impacted on livelihood and hand to mouth problems.These victim families are in great shock and stress for maintaining their livelihood.Million of tons of paddy seed used for food consumption were damaged and income almost nill.

In such situation, MRC Nepal organize those victm families in groups and performed socio psycho counselling for the relief of pain and stress.Also MRC nepal lobbyed the group in Local and central government authority for granting any type of subsidy for food and seed materials.Not only these but also MRC Nepal organize these victim families for the implementation of Short run income generation activities such as High value fresh vegetable production program from where they generate the attractive income from the selling of fresh vegetables.MRC Nepal supported them seeds inputs for production,technical backstopping support and Skill enhancement capacity building training.Now the beneficiaries are so pleased for maintaining their daily livelihood and thanked to  GlobalGiving and MRC Nepal. These marginal women also organized for the safe cooking from the portable cookstove as their fuel wood during this rainy season were wet and unable for cooking.
