Economic Empowerment for 1000 Women in Cameroon.

Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) aimed at providing business training and financing to 1000 peasant women through the Village Savings and Loan Association approach. The objective is to empower vulnerable women and girls in rural communities, socially, economically and culturally to achieve financial autonomy and consolidate peace.

I.A.A has organized 16 IDP Women Saving and Loan Groups across the West Region of Cameroon to provide economic support to women and girls displaced due to ongoing conflict in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon. 320 women have been registered in the groups who save regularly, receive training on financial literacy, agribusiness and 90-95% women and girls have indicated increase access to finance, family food security and income levels, allowing them to provide for children's school fees, health care and clothing. Over $10,000 have been saved within the groups and IDP women and girls have been socially included in the host community through this solidarity and social economy initiative.

I.A.A hopes to increase the scope of this program by building and mentoring many women local financial and solidarity groups, providing talored business training, finance and learning resources to help vulnerable women and girls esecially in the agrifood systems/enterprises. Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) created this project to work closely with local on the ground organizations in all the Sub Saharan African countries to provide business training and financing for 1million peasant women through the Village Savings and Loan Association approach. The aim is to empower women financially, socially, economically and culturally to fully participate and engage in economic and environmental sustainability, which creates a pathway for peasant women to move out of poverty. IAA has been working with vulnerable women in Cameroon since 2017, empowering in sectors ranging from Agriculture, Environment, Vocational skills, Sexual and reproductive health and livelihoods, with over 1M women impacted to date and work recognized with Award of Difference for the economic empowerment of women in Cameroon.

In the present era women have much to offer than only doing domestic work. They make up the largest population of the nation. They are embedded with much potential that need to be unlocked. The present world gives the opportunity for all to develop especially as we talk of social economy and solidarity. Solidarity is insurance for people with less opportunities, and with solidarity they can move mountains. The developing world needs people who think out of the box and who do not only have education certificates but people who can make things work. Creativity and innovation is what can change the developing world from the challenges of gender violence, poverty and unemployment. Women now have no limits to carryout social and economic activities. Everyone is born free and equal. Peasant women suffer from depression, poverty and unemployment.

Our project has come to give hope to peasant women. We can solve problems like child trafficking, domestic violence against women and low literacy rate for the girl child. It will create opportunities for women and help them build wealth so that they can participate in socio-economic and cultural development of their families and communities.
