Significant Impact on Vulnerable Schoolgirls

The Digital Skills Training program for girls in Gboko has demonstrated remarkable success in empowering young women, despite facing challenges such as the arson attack on our office on June 24, 2024. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we have been able to continue our mission to equip girls with essential digital skills.

To date, over 150 girls have benefited from the Digital Skills Training initiative. This program targets both in-school and out-of-school young women aged 12 to 20 from the rural community of Gboko. Participants are gaining hands-on experience in vital digital areas, including web design, digital marketing, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The program has enabled over 50 schoolgirls to effectively use computers and access the internet for educational purposes. They are actively searching for online content, completing school assignments, and even teaching their peers how to navigate the digital space. This shift not only enhances their learning experience but also fosters a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration among the participants.

By leveraging local resources and international donors through the GlobalGiving fundraising platform, we are committed to sustaining and expanding the program's impact. Continued support is essential to reach more young women and ensure they have the skills necessary to thrive in a digital world.

Schoolgirls Start as beginners

The micro digital literacy skills training project for 50 schoolgirls in Gboko has brought about significant changes in the lives of these rural school girls who began learning at the age of 17. The project, which involved 50 schoolgirls from two secondary schools, has created numerous positive impacts in Gboko.

The participants have shared their success stories, highlighting the benefits they have gained from the training.
Elizabeth a SSS 1 student expressed her gratitude to be one among girls who benefited in this micro digital literacy project and said this is her first time to learn computer despite computer is one of subject in school but we only learn theorire. and now I know how to boot, operate and shutdonw computer proper.

Terwange, an SSS 1 student, shares her experience. Before joining the digital literacy program, I had no idea how to even turn on a computer. Now, I can use Microsoft Word to type letters, create documents, and even send emails to my friends! It's amazing how much I've learned.

Dooshima, another SSS 1 student, highlights the impact of the program on her life. As a beneficiary of this program, I've gained valuable experience and knowledge about the internet. Now, I use it for learning, completing my assignments, and staying connected with the world. Even though I come from a poor family, I'm empowered to use technology to achieve my full potential in the future.

They have expressed their gratitude for the donors who supported this micro project, and the project team are working hard to continue to impact the lives of more rural school girls in Gboko and help bridge the digital divide.

The digital literacy skills training provided to the schoolgirls has not only improved their academic performance but has also opened up new opportunities for them. They are now better equipped to access and utilize digital resources, which is essential in today's world. The project has empowered these girls, increasing their confidence and self-esteem, and providing them with the tools they need to succeed in a digital world.

The micro digital literacy skills training project for 50 schoolgirls in Gboko has been a great success, providing the participants with life-changing skills and opportunities.

The positive impact of this project is evident, and with continued support and donations, it will continue to transform the lives of more rural school girls in Gboko during summer period from August to September, 2024.
