The target population for Metroball Youth Outreach are the At-Risk Youth primarily of DC, both boys & girls, between the ages of 7-18. It has been reported, the number of young children living in the city has increased by 23%, with the lowest median family incomes. It is critical that MYO continues to provide a safe environment with quality affordable programs. Without support, it would be particularly harmful for youth who rely on the consistency of our academic & basketball programs.
Through participation in Metroball programs, youth are exposed to life-long successes including: mentorship, educational enrichment, life skill development, & sports. Our goal is to succeed in building a safe environment for youth to experience a positive, productive, & safe social community through sports & team social dynamics. The New York Ave Classic provides a platform for youth in DC to interact with youth from Maryland and Virginia becoming familiar with each other and share ideas.
With more than 600 youth participating annually in Metroball Youth Outreach programs, we strive to break the habits that are leading to trouble or deviant behavior in schools & in the streets. Metroball is committed to the importance of furthering education & mentorship within the community. After School programs & clinics offered all year round to include: Sports Journalism & Broadcasting, Skill Camps, Leagues, & Tutoring. All in hopes of exposing youth to alternative positive choices.
