Hi, dear friends!
It’s been a while since we last reported to you but we have done a great deal of work throughout the summer!
Firstly, we have a new group of mentors. I’m proud to report that once we released the announcement that Step for Bulgaria is looking for new volunteers who to become mentors, there was need to spend few weeks only in interviews with them. We selected the most motivated and experienced people who would be of great help to the youths.
We had a “basis training” with them and a teambuilding. The whole idea behind all this is that we create a group of people who can meet the youngsters’ need and, at the same time, a community of people who work towards the same goal.
Now, almost all of the new people are matched with a youth who they’re helping. For example, one of the youths was looking for a new job, so his mentor showed him how to write a CV and they applied for several jobs. She also showed the boy how to look effectively for a suitable job at the vacancy websites. Another one needed Spanish lessons and we matched her with a Spanish language teacher as a mentor. Also, another girl was afraid that net year they’ll have to present in front of the whole class. Her mentor helped her with preparing a Prezi presentation and some tips for better public speaking. Now she’s less worried about speaking in front of the whole class.
Thank you for making all this possible! You’re great and your help – highly appreciated!
Kind regards,
Gergana
