Dear freinds,
here comes the time to share with you all that has happened during the last few weeks!
Our mentorship program is gaining more and more momentum since the last training for new mentors. Also, we have several big success stories to share. The two girls who were studying for their final exams at high school passed their exams and are very happy! They also looked gorgeous at their prom! Fingers crossed for their university entry exams!
During our monthly meeting the mentors share news about their youths - one of them urgently needs to find a room, another has just passed her driving theory test, several want to change their jobs - there's a lot for our mentors to do. We even joked that we're superheroes! Our latest success story is of a girl whose mentor helped her write a motivation letter for a youth exchange in Finland. There she met a handsome boy, they fell in love and now she's planning to move to Finland with him! For this reason she's now studiing English with her mentor as she also wants to start university in English language there. Isn't love a great feeling?
During the last meeting one of the mentors shared that "This young boy is so pro-active! I was thinking to suggest that he should start doing some kind of sport. When we met he told me had already subscibed to a sports club! I'm so impressed!".
Thank you for making all this possible! We also kindly remind you for the GlobalGiving bonus day on June 15th beginning at 9:00 at EDT when your donations helping youth will be matched!
Best,
Gergana

New volunteers' group!

Dear friends,
I'm very happy to share with you great news - during the last month we launched a campaign for hiring new mentors! It was a great success and seems like more and more people are willing to volunteer and help youth. We held many interview with candidates and selected a group of 20 enthusiasts who meet our criteria and will support our youth as mentors. The campaign was part of a local volunteer platform and was so interesting and valuable for the volunteers that the training even received some support from the platform.
I'm actually just caming back from their first training. Trust me, these people are great! During two days we discussed how to work with youths who have no parents, how to be good mentors, how to listen and communicate effectively, how to react in different situations. They were full of ideas and good questions!
Now they are eager to start meeting young people in need and support them in their career seeking, homework doing and responsability taking. Let's wish them good luck! Thanks to your help we managed to give them some extra reading materials, books about unpriviledged youth and, of couse, certificates showing that they are now able to support youth without parents in an adecuate way!
Thank you for trusting in our cause and helping make this possible!
Best regards,
Gergana Kicheva

Happy New Year, dear friends!
Hope it brings you lots of health and happiness! Thank you for all you have done for our cause throughout 2015!
Here’s a brief report on what we did in the last two months thanks to your help. First of all, we went to the theatre together with youths and mentors again. We chose a popular comedy so everybody would enjoy the evening and be eager to visit the theatre again! And everybody did! The whole point was not only to show the youths a different way of spending their free time, but also to allow mentors and youths to share an evening in a different environment and find new topics to discuss. Most youths even asked if we’ll be going again soon.
There was another great event in December: our big Christmas party!!! We gathered two weeks before Christmas in a small bar for an afternoon party. Thanks to your help there was awesome food for the youths and we bought small presents for them. Of course, there were some games and the winners (well, everybody was a winner!) received the presents. There were scarfs, cosmetics for girls, Christmas decorations, chocolates. There was plenty of dancing, as well. Turned out that some of the mentors and the youths are natural talents! We danced traditional Bulgarian dances and many others.
Now we look forward to the activities coming in 2016! Thanks for making this possible!
Have a lovely year!
Best regards,
Gergana Kicheva
