For years, Kadek A., 31, struggled with severe mental illness. When her condition worsened, her family once resorted to Pasung (shackling/confinement) because they did not know how else to keep her safe.
Kadek A. met the Sole Family team in 2018 and began intensive support later that year. Through medication, family education, regular monitoring, and encouragement, her condition gradually improved.
Today, her life is very different.
Kadek A. sells canang, learned massage skills, and now works full-time at a grocery store in Buleleng. She earns an income, contributes to her family, and has started saving for herself.
“Since receiving support, I feel able to live and work normally.” – Kadek A.
Her recovery shows that treatment, family support, and opportunity can restore independence and dignity.
What Your Support Makes Possible, our next 24-month goal is :
People released from Pasung : 15–20
Patients receiving ongoing treatment : 40–50
Family members supported : 80–120
Community members reached : 3,000+
Our teams continue supporting patients in Singaraja and Karangasem through medication, follow-up visits, family guidance, and community education.
Treatment Is Part of Recovery
Kadek A. still requires long-term treatment and monitoring. Recovery does not always mean stopping medication—it means helping each person achieve the best possible quality of life while receiving the care they need.
Today, Kadek A. can work, support her family, and participate in her community.
Recent Treatment Support in Singaraja & Karangasem
Our outreach teams continue monitoring individuals who require ongoing psychiatric treatment.
Recent monitoring records include 20 individuals:
Patients Supported Karangasem : 11
Patients Supported Singaraja : 9
Your donation helps provide medication, outreach visits, treatment monitoring, and family support for people who may otherwise struggle to access care.
96 people have already been released from Pasung.
Together, we can help more people move from confinement to recovery, from dependence to independence, and from stigma to acceptance.
Thank you for believing that recovery is possible.
