With the motive of enhancing the ability of school girls to manage their menstruation and their health, 360 sets of washable reusable sanitary pads were supported to Shree Shikshya Bikash Secondary School located in Letang Municipality (around 490 km east of Kathmandu in Morang district in east Nepal). Leaflets in local language containing information about menstrual hygiene management were also provided along with the sanitary pad sets. Additional to sanitary pads, reusable face masks and stationery items were handed over to the Child Club of the school and were distributed to the students by organizing a small event.
Chetana, vice-secretary of Child Club, stated that even in the normal times, poverty and lack of basic services often cause menstrual health and hygiene needs to go unmet. In this context, the use of washable reusable sanitary pads will be very helpful for their personal hygiene management.
