Dear friends!
Despite the fact that the project "Meeting of Two Cultures" was supported by only 7 people, there was a strike on the German railroad, we were able to realize it and receive high praise from its participants.
The goal of the project is to help blind people from Ukraine who are fleeing the war to adapt to the conditions of a foreign country by providing them with the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture, traditions, rules of communication, and values of the country where they find themselves.
The project participants gathered in Bremen, one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.
The 4 days were filled with excursions, trainings "Stress inoculation", socializing and meeting new people. 25 project participants visited the Bremen Enographic Museum on the excursion "Continents at the Fingertips", walked the streets of the old city with Vladimir Devakov on the excursion "Neskuchny Bremen". We got acquainted not only with the history and culture of Bremen, but also learned a lot about the history and traditions of other German lands. A joint concert of German and Ukrainian singers and musicians was very interesting.
The concert ended with cheerful dancing. At the psychological trainings by Katerina Krause, the project participants shared their memories of the first days of the war in Ukraine, their experience of evacuation.
Many of them could not speak quietly, cried. they learned to cope with stress. During the training "Inoculation against stress" blind refugees told their examples of how they cope with stress and received useful advice and examples of exercises against emotional burnout, depression. Very interesting was the meeting with the instructor for orientation and mobility Eyrun Trosten, who introduced us to the system of assistance to blind people in Germany, training of instructors for orientation in space.
At the round table Jürgend Kuge, the head of the Society for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Bremen, spoke about socialization of visually impaired people in Germany, about life, problems and successes of blind people in Bremen.
Our meeting participants got acquainted with various techniques of overcoming stress, gained a lot of knowledge and positive emotions.
