Beneficiaries: 25 blind refugees from Ukraine who have found temporary shelter in Germany and 25 blind individuals from Germany. Project Location: Bremen
Many Ukrainians are leaving their homes to escape the war. This is especially true for people with visual impairments. They experience constant anxiety, mood swings, a sense of loss of their homeland, fear for themselves and their loved ones who couldn't leave, a feeling of worthlessness, abandonment, and loneliness. How can they find their place in this new life, and how not to break down? There are no family or friends, a foreign language, minimal contacts.
50 project participants will receive psychological support, get acquainted with the cultural traditions of Germany and Ukraine, make new friends, and gain resources to overcome the refugee syndrome and adapt to new conditions.
Assistance in integration of blind refugees from Ukraine into the German society using art therapy methods. Development of positive experience of overcoming the "refugee" syndrome. Dissemination of the project experience and its application in further work in other countries where people with visual impairment have received protection.
