Tukuy Pacha, is executing a Community Based Rehabilitation project in five rural municipalities of the department of Cochabamba. The beneficiaries are 320 people with different types of disabilities. 70% are children and 30% adults. The main actions of the project are: - Detection of people with disabilities. - Rehabilitation care. - Training for RBC promoters for attention and follow-up. - Dissemination of information for awareness and prevention. - Empowerment.
The problem occurs when these people must use drugs for long periods of time, sometimes for life (in the case of epilepsy) and their economic conditions do not allow them to guarantee the acquisition of medicines, often they must prioritize needs as food or dress before buying drugs, which also cost is significant for the family. And if it is about drugs that must increase the doses, according to age, will have to attend medical checks to verify the proper administration.
The project seeks to guarantee access to essential medicines in a timely and efficient manner, for all beneficiaries who require it for a year after the project is approved and in coordination with the work team, health centers and authorities, social organizations and families of the beneficiaries of the RBC project.
People with disabilities will benefit from better availability of medical supplies. The amount of medication that will be provided will help approximately one year in the continuity of medical treatments for its beneficiaries, generating greater stability in the process of medical care and rehabilitation, which affects the general state of health
