We're counting our blessings this holiday season at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. It's been a great year and we have some incredible projects lined up for 2017. All of them with the intention of helping HIV+ children and moms break the cycle of poverty!
Sam is a 14 year old adolescet living in the suburbs with his maternal grandmother. He started care in Decmeber 2003 and his appreciative grandmother testifies that her grandchild would not have lived to see this day if it was not for the medicine and other services Sam has received in the program. She continues with tears in her eyes to say that he was given to her when he was a baby of two years. Sam was very sickly and was admitted to the acute ward several times, crushing any hopes she had that he would survive. Those days are now a memory and Sam is quickly catching up on his studies and no longer feels sick! You will never know just how much your support and the medicine has contributed to the good health and education of her grandson.
Your generosity is making a difference in lives of these children and their families. Thank you for supporting our work! As you make your end of the year giving decisions, please keep us in mind so we can continue helping children in 2017 and beyond. We wish you the best year ever, full of every blessing and happiness imaginable, knowing you are a hope-giver. If you'd like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
Kaley is 9 years old. She joined our clinic in Mulago when she was just 6 months old. Kaley's mother talks about the blessings they have received, hope being the best of all. She tells us that Kaley suffered from skin rashes which have been well managed by the medications she was given, with special thanks to the American Foundation for Children with AIDS. Kaley's mother also noted that she has never failed to receive medicine when they needed it for her treatment. brought the girl for treatment, except at the time when we stocked out multivitamins. Because of her gratitude she was more than willing to share her picture alongside her daughter at the pharmacy to let AFCA know they are part of their improved health.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting our medicine program. The essential medicines this program has provided has helped thousands of children stay healthy and live happy lives.

Sharon is an HIV+ child receiving medication in our program. She is an orphan and lives with her grandmother. Life is hard for them, but they depend on each other to manage day to day. Sharon was brought to the clinic in very poor health and her grandmother didn't know the cause. It's just so much for her to manage with a young child. She was started on a drug regime immediately after her diagnosis. Sharon's health has gradually improved and she is no longer sick all the time.
Sharon's grandmother is careful to keep clinic appointments for drug refills, making it easier to manage her health. She is now able to attend school every day! Sharon is well nourished and enjoys a good appetite, now growing normally like any other child.
Your support of this medicine project makes it possible for children like Sharon to dream of a future. Each and every donation is appreciated beyond words! If you would like more information about this program or the others we sponsor, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@afcaids.org.
Phoebe lost her husband in 2007 and since then seemed like she was always looking for a second chance. Because of the harsh times and conditions she’s gone through, she has lived a life of despair. Phoebe adds that without the support from her in-laws and her family, she would have given up.
Thanks to your donations to support this medicine project, Phoebe is very appreciative for the chance to appreciate life again after every she lost. She’s very thankful to the American Foundation for Children with AIDS and our partners who have given her family the chance to think about tomorrow and most importantly, to know that there are friends out there watching them with big hearts.
Please know that your generosity is truly making a difference in the lives of this family and many more in our program. With our partners on the ground, the children and their families receive the support and monitoring they need to make this a very successful project. We are changing lives day after day. These families feel your love, and so do we at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.

What an amazing year it has been for AFCA's children, thanks to YOU! Because of YOU, thousands of children are thriving and hopeful. Because of YOU, hundreds of children had good food to eat this year. Because of YOU, hundreds of children have livestock and seeds with which to start small businesses. We don't have enough words to thank you for what you've done because it is huge...it is life changing.
Let me introduce you to Stella and her family. Stella is the mother of three children and lost her husband in 2004 to AIDS. Life hasn't been easy since that time. Stella's life is consumed with keeping the children at school and meeting their medical requirements. Caring for her own needs has been difficult while caring for her HIV+ child.
Stella tells us that she is grateful for the support. “Today I am happy that the medicines have kept me alive and strong. Until now, life was not worth living when he passed on.” Thank you for supporting programs like this one so Stella and her children can have the medicine they need to survive.
As this year comes to a close, we want to thank you for the donations you've made to support our work. If you are making your end of the year giving decisions, please keep us in mind so we can continue helping children in 2016 and beyond. Please share what we do with others, so they, too, can help our children. Together, we CAN make a difference. We wish you the best year ever, full of every blessing and happiness imaginable, knowing you are a hope-giver.
