Emanuel was 11 years old when he lost his mother, and went to live with his stepmother. Family members were not aware of Emanuel's HIV status when he arrived. Baylor visited the home and encouraged the entire famly to seek HIV counseling and testing. Emanuel's father refused testing for the family. However, the family was now aware of the boy's condition and offered him support.
It's now five years later and Emanuel is being raised by his older sister. She has been able to help him attend his clinic appointments. Emanuel has been faithfully taking the medicine and continues to be a healthy young man. He is thrilled to be feeling well enough to attend school, and reports tell us he is doing well!
Your support of medicine project is priceless to children like Emanual and the family who is caring for him. They now have hope for his future.
